Frequently asked questions about wound care
We have answered the questions our patients ask us most often.
Do I need a prescription for dressings at home?
No. We can provide your wound care without a medical prescription. However, a prescription is required to remove stitches or staples.
How often should the dressing be changed?
It depends on the wound and the dressing used: every day, or every two to three days for some dressings. Your doctor will specify.
Who provides the dressings?
Dressings and other care supplies are at your expense and can be bought at a pharmacy. After our first visit, we tell you what to buy and how much.
My wound isn't healing. What should I do?
We report it to your doctor, who can adjust the treatment or refer you to a specialist wound clinic.
Can you treat a pressure ulcer?
Yes. We treat the pressure ulcer and put prevention in place: repositioning, a suitable mattress, skin care.
